One of the jewelry stores in town has a huge sale in August. The girls and I love to go look, even though we aren’t big jewelry wearers. Three years ago I ventured back into the store by myself to see if there was anything I could get for the girls for Christmas, (planning ahead). I found a few things for them and then the girls working said, “You need to get this it looks just like you!” It was a smiley face made of diamonds. I loved it and yes it looked just like me, it was the me that the girls saw out on the town and at school. I wore that necklace nonstop, never taking it off. It was fabulous.
I quit wearing it several years ago, it wasn’t me anymore, and I hid behind my smile. I had allowed circumstances in my life to turn my frown upside down.
Today while reading my morning reads, Calm My Anxious Heart and The Purpose Driven Life, both were about focusing on the positive and smiling. I asked myself why don’t I wear my smiley face anymore?
Rick Warren wrote on Day 9 of PDL the title, What Makes God Smile? Psalm 119:138 MSG Smile on me, your servant; teach me the right way to live.
Our purpose in life should be that of pleasing God. The smile of God is the goal of our life. We want God to smile at all times. So how do we do this?
God smiles when we love him supremely
God smiles when we trust him completely
God smiles when we obey him wholeheartedly
God smiles when we praise and thank him continually
God smiles when we use our abilities
Ask yourself do I make the Lord smile? If you don’t begin smiling today. Turn your frown upside down SMILE and the world smiles with you.
Numbers 6:25 NLT May the Lord smile on you
