BABYLON

We do it your way! Isn’t this the world of today?  We are catered everywhere we go.   We can get anything we want. If we have the money we can buy it.  We have every gadget you can think of, iPhone, iPods, Nano, droid, jawbone; Nike fit the list goes on and on.  If you want a certain food you go to the drive through and get it.  People even ask you, “How would you like that?”  Whatever we don’t like we get rid of it and get something else.  If we don’t like who are partner is we get another one of those too.  Those who are in the limelight give the image of looks to us.  Their bodies are small, their hair is perfect and their face is flawless.  We want to be just like that.  PERFECT! Yes right!  We live in a society of self, all about me me me!!! The day of self-absorption.

We began the Beth Moore study of Daniel today.  I didn’t think I would like it, but I LOVE it.  I didn’t realize what information you could learn out of the first chapter of Daniel.   To understand chapter one you must understand Babylon or might I say the Babylon way of thinking. It is like our society today.  It is all about youth, beauty, and intelligence.  Our world is a display of the "I am"!  It deals with complete over indulgence.  You can see Satan at work.

So we are faced with this question, Are we going to let the world of Babylon thinking influence us or are we going to influence the world?  What does God want us to do?  God wants us to do as Daniel did.  Daniel didn’t fall into the pit of sin; he didn’t let the enemy get a stronghold on him.  Daniel and his friends were stronger because they trusted the Lord and had faith in Him.  They didn’t live by self, they lived for God, for pleasing Him.

Allow the Holy Spirit to work in you and follow the Daniel Plan.  Don’t overindulge in things that are sinful.  Listen to the Lord and plant yourself in faith.  Make a commitment to NOT eat off the world’s table of sin, make a commitment to just say no and follow the Lord!  You will be happier and healthier because of it.

(I used my notes from our first lesson on Daniel.  Beth Moore, DVD, Daniel)
