MESSY MESS

A blanket of snow glistened on the ground.  Everything was covered with the 5 inches that had fallen the night before.  All I could do was sit and stare at the beauty.  I walked outside and made the first footprints on our untouched lawn.  The virgin snow didn’t last for long.  What was earlier lovely was now unattractive.  That is what happens after the snow when everything starts to melt.  You have a mess!

On the way to church yesterday this was our discussion in the car, the mess!  The snow had been dazzling, alluring, gorgeous and appealing, but now it was just ugly!  Footprints, four wheelers, rangers and car tires had rutted up the beautiful landscape and changed it into a muddy eyesore.  How we were all ready for the snow to melt and dry up.

My mind started going to how something is at first beautiful and alluring, but can quickly change into a messy dirty chaos.  And you know who loves this?  Yes Satan.  This is the perfect description of sin.  The beauty, manipulated by the enticing attractiveness of what seems to be fabulous, draws us in.  This is the trickery that Satan uses to allure us into the messy situation.  We will soon realize that the repercussions of what looked so wonderful are devastating.

Just like the saying, “the grass is greener,” yes the snow is whiter and beautiful at first, but then it is a mess.  You don’t want to be like that of the mess left behind after the winter snowstorm.  You want to be beautiful like the white glistening snowflakes that fall from heaven.  When you are allured by beauty and Satan makes the grass look greener go to God.  Pray for the answers if you are confused.

Go to God for deliverance.  Just as we pray in the Lords prayer, “lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil,” ask God for help.  Many people in the bible prayed for the help of deliverance, David, Daniel, Peter, and Paul are just a few.  God is there for anyone who comes to Him for help.  God promises us this in Psalm 50:15 NIV and call on me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me."  You don’t have to go to Him with a long conversation you only have to say HELP!  He will give you the willpower you need to get through the mess and back into the beautiful landscape that you once trampled through.

If you are in the middle of a messy mess, tempted by Satan, go boldly to God.  When you do soon everything will dry up and be clean and clear again.
