Scars, I look down and see them on my arm. When we were in Costa Rica some weird bug bit
me. The result after the itching, a
reminder left behind with scars. I have
tried many things but they won’t go away.
Scars come in several forms.
The physical scars are important because they are part of the process to
heal wounds. These are the scars you can
see, but some scars are hidden deep within.
We push those emotional scars deep into our core hoping that they won’t
reappear. Scars will resurface at times
reminding you of where they came from.
Do you have scars?
Our most painful scars are those physical scars that no one
can see, but they represent your story. These scars we receive by what others
have done to us or what has been done through us by our own mistakes and failures. These internal scars mark the past hurts and
mistakes and also represent the story of restoration.
An article written by Sharon Jayne’s says this about scars, “Scars
aren’t anything we need to hide or be ashamed of. They are an invitation to share the healing
power of Jesus Christ with the hurting world.
For a scar, by its very definition, implies healing. These wounds in your life are potential
treasures. Dig a little deeper, push aside the dirt, and discover the jewels
that lie beneath the surface.” (faithlifewomen.com)
Our scars are our greatest treasures. They show God’s forgiveness and love. Scars remind us of our resilience, they keep
us from repeating mistakes, they draw us nearer to Christ and they allow us to
help others. We have scars for a reason,
the reason for us to allow God to use those scars for His purpose. We shouldn’t hide our scars but share our
scars to help others. Your scars can be
a blessing to others.
Psalm 107:2 NIV Let the redeemed of the Lord tell their
story those he redeemed from the hand of the foe.
Scars are the memories in our lives that show others the
history of healing. Share God’s love and
His forgiving grace.
God will not look you over for medals or degrees or
diplomas, but for scars. Elbert Hubbard
