Someone once told me that I was resilient. I had never thought that. Through dealing with many situations I was
able to spring back into shape after being bent. I was able to withstand and recover from
difficult conditions. After dealing with several things during my lifetime I
was flexible, pliable, strong, and tough.
Gosh wouldn’t anyone like to be that way? Maybe someone else but not me. I soon grew tired of being resilient, tired
of being tough and tired of bouncing back.
All I wanted was peace, peace to withstand any object that comes hurling
into my path.
I have found the answer on how to be resilient and also have
peace with being able to bounce back, the answer is the Lord. Only through Him are we truly resilient. It isn’t because of who we are; it is who we
are with Him. He gives us the ability to
be flexible. He gives us the courage to
not be scared. He gives us the mind and
body to be strong. It is ONLY through
Him that we withstand and recover. My
dad was an alcoholic. He didn’t recover
until he joined AA. The reason why AA
works is because it helps the alcoholic realize that they aren’t alone in this
battle of alcoholism; they have the help of God. AA brings about a new vision and a new action
to the dark and negative side of the addicted through receiving the grace of
God. It is through Him that the old life
can be discarded and the new conditions can be enjoyed.
So are we resilient because we are strong ourselves? NO, we are only resilient if we let God into
our lives, if we let Him lead and guide us.
When He is present in our lives we have a durable faith that is pliable
when responding to hardships and adaptable when dealing with difficult
circumstances. With Him we will not be
permanently damaged, we will absorb the shock and recover.
Today embrace being resilient, cling to the Christ-like
characteristic that helps us to be flexible in our hardships.
Philippians 3:21
New International Version (NIV)
21 who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his
control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious
body.
Joshua 1:9
New International Version (NIV)
9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid;
do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
