I never know what my husband is going to get me for my
birthday. For my 40th
birthday he got me a treadmill, in which he really wanted. This year he got me a bike. A beautiful purple bike with a big white
seat. It isn’t just a plain old bike
like my granny bike it has 7 gears.
Watch out roads! I love it. It pedals so easily and goes really
fast. I don’t really know how to work
the gears or what gear does what, but I am learning. Until then I just keep on pedaling in
whatever gear I am in.
Shifting gears, um?
Have you ever had to shift gears? Are you stuck in a certain gear and
you can’t get out? How do we keep on
pedaling through life and shift gears?
In life shifting gears isn’t as easy and quick as shifting
gears on a bike. When we need a shift we
usually want it to happen immediately, but that doesn’t happen. We must have patience and know that the
situation will shift in due time. The Lord
has a plan and that plan is His not ours.
He knows the perfect timing and when the perfect lesson has been
learned. He will bless us. Sometimes these blessings are located when
our gears have been shifted, sometimes it is after we are finished pedaling and
at times the blessing doesn’t even come to us.
Ephesians 6:12-13 Ephesians
6:12-13New International Version (NIV)
12 For our struggle is not against
flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the
powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the
heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor
of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your
ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.
Paul
tells us in this scripture that Satan is harboring us from shifting our gears. When we pedal through life we are up against
those enemies. They want us not to be
able to shift gears. They want to keep
us in the place that is dark. There is a
constant battle against everyone who is riding with the Lord.
When you
are pedaling through life trying to shift gears imagine that you are on a two
seater and God is riding in front. He
will shift your gears and keep pedaling for you when you just can’t do it
anymore. He knows what gear does the
best work for the best incline.
Pedaling
and shifting gears may be a struggle, but with the Lord even the steepest hill
will be made easy to climb.
Keep
pedaling and shifting!
