“I cannot paint!” Was
one of the quotes my friends said Saturday morning as they gathered to paint. I explained that everyone could paint. “What I see you may not see, what you see I
may not see art is in the eye of the beholder,” was my response.
I love to
paint. Years ago it became my
therapy. I would paint and pray. With every swipe of the brush I would say a
short little prayer. I wanted to share
this with some of my friends.
You may not like to paint or want to paint, but you need to
find something to fill your idle time.
The worst enemy we have working against us isn’t the outside world. The enemies are the thoughts that accumulate
between our ears. What painting and
praying does for me is remove the thoughts that can send me down an unwanted
road.
The author of “The Spirit of Python” describes thoughts as
this:
A thought is like an egg that Satan puts in your head. I often call these snake eggs “thought
bombs.” The problem is, eggs hatch.
How many “thought bombs” are driving you away from the
Lord? How many of these eggs have
hatched in your brain? When we allow
these thought bomb eggs to hatch you better watch out they are really smelly!
I’m not telling you to paint to get rid of thought bombs,
but I am telling you that you must find something to divert your mind. If you don’t have a hobby, make your new
hobby prayer. Pray every time the smelly
rotten thought bomb goes off in your brain.
What started at 7am that morning ended at 12:30 that
afternoon. Those that thought they
couldn’t paint laughed and said, “I may quit my day job.” We laughed, we prayed and we thought. We thought about the Lord and what He was
doing in our lives. Our minds didn’t
wander to the bad we had no stinky thought bombs.
Find something today to take away the thoughts that are
driven you away from the Lord. Take
control of your thoughts. As Franklin quotes in his book,” Don’t let the
snake make a nest and hatch his eggs in your mind!”

2 Set
your mind and keep focused habitually on the things above [the
heavenly things], not on things that are on the earth [which have only temporal
value].
2 Corinthians 10:5Amplified Bible

5 We
are destroying sophisticated arguments and every exalted and
proud thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God, and we
are taking every thought and purpose captive to the obedience of
Christ,
