Our alarm went off at 5:30, but what did we do? We hit the snooze. Of course we ended up sleeping too late. We think to ourselves, “I have too much to do
to spend time with the Lord.” But I
decided that it is best for me to start my day with Him.
There are many things I could choose from, but I decided to
go to my First5. I read todays lesson
and then I go back to the weekend wrap-up that I missed on Saturday, so glad I
did.
Lysa TerKeurst was speaking on how we get out of bed and
think we need to get to work. Can you
believe that? I was just thinking I
could skip my time with the Lord, I open my First5 and that is what is being
spoken to me.
Lysa went back to the story of Esau. Esau traded a lifetime birthright for a bowl
of beans. He was depleted from a day of
work. He had worked and worked from
sunup to sundown. He wasn’t thinking and
he felt desperate.
This is how we will feel if we jump out of bed and go
straight to work and miss our time with the Lord. When we begin everyday with Him our days
become more full. Our mind is set
straight and we are able to be more productive.
So on the days you think, “I don’t have time to spend with
the Lord I’ve got to get to work!” Think
again. You will have more quality time
when the first minutes of your day are spend with Him. Don’t trade morning moments with the Lord for
a job that depletes you.
You may end up with a full bowl of beans, but your day will
be empty.
Genesis 25:19-34
Thanks First5 for once again speaking to me!
