Press On: Philippians 3:13 brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do; forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. PRESS ON Our goal in life, stated by Paul is to know Christ, to be like Christ and to be all Christ has in mind for us. We shouldn’t let anything take our eyes off of Him. We should be like an athlete in training with the conclusion of the race in his or her vision. We must put everything to the side that will distract us or that will hold us back. We have all done things that we are ashamed of, and we live in tension of what we have been and what we want to be. Because our hope is in Christ, however we can let go of the past guilt and look forward to what God will help us become. Don’t dwell on your past; instead grow in the knowledge of God by concentrating on your relationship with him now. Realize that you are forgiven and then move on to the life of faith and obedience. Look forward to the wonderful life ahead because of your hope in Christ. (Life Application Study Bible, Zondervan 1986)
