My word for May 11th is HARMONY!

My word for May 11th is HARMONY

At the beginning of the week it seemed that everywhere I went someone was disgruntled with someone else.  It really bothered me, this tension that has brewed among different people.  I really wanted to look at some and say, “Can’t we just all get along, I am tired of turmoil”.  In this small town that we live in, we are all entangled in different webs, however all of these webs seem to be intertwined among each other.  It is sort of like the quote, “damned if you do, damned if you don’t”.  With the different things that I have dealt with lately I can see both sides, I have lived on both sides of the fence.  The issues aren’t worth the worry and stress.  Just live in harmony with one another.  I know what you are now saying, “Easier said than done”.

Jay has always told the girls, “What is easiest isn’t always best”.  This is true.  It is easy to go with the norm, go along with what people say, agree with people, but is it the best thing to do?  Maybe sometimes, however if it is causes someone else sadness it isn’t worth it.  The Lord wants us to live in peace and harmony with each other.   These are His instructions for us.  In the book, “The Peacemaker” Ken Sande writes, “something significant happens when you decide to follow God’s instructions for relationships, especially His insights on conflict.  When you focus on Him and His ways, you do more than cope.  When you glorify God by doing relationships according to His plan, you’re allowing God to reign in your life. You’re enjoying a powerful connection that alters your whole life. And it’s far more than personal. You’re also giving everyone around you a reason to respect and praise God’s fame.”  We should turn our hearts towards each other and turn our problems towards the Lord.   The Lord wants us to be united with Him and united with each other.

We will have conflict, but let God deal it.  Agree to disagree with those that you don’t see eye to eye with.  Follow God’s instructions and let Him handle everything.  If you do this life will be easy.

Dear Lord help us to have harmony with those around us.  Let us agree to disagree and turn all conflict over to You.  Keep us from getting frustrated when others push our buttons.  Guide us to those that will be our peacemakers and not steal our peace.   During times of conflict during 2012 remind us to turn all situations over to You.  We know You can handle anything.

Romans 12:16-18 (NLT)
“Live in harmony with each other. Don’t be too proud to enjoy the company of ordinary people. And don’t think you know it all! Never pay back evil with more evil. Do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honorable. Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone.”

 (1 Corinthians 6:17)
But he who unites himself with the Lord is one with him in spirit.
