My word for May 5th is OVERFLOW
I got up this morning and started my usual routine of
letting the dogs out and getting Anna’s breakfast ready. I started my coffee and toast, while
glancing out the back window. “Oh
My Gosh”! I had left the water
running in the pool, since the night before. Overflowing it was.
Water was everywhere in the yard and on the back patio. I ran outside to start the backwash. Of course Bella loved the overflowing
of water, she was jumping, splashing, and swimming.
God wants us to be overflowing. Overflowing with love.
When we love God with all of our heart and soul we are following his
first commandment. Paul prays that
their love will overflow more and more. .. Paul didn’t finish his sentence or define how their love should
be just that their love should overflow.
When we think of what overflow means we think of how water, just like in
my pool, spills over the side in a continuous stream of water flowing
outward. Because God has
overflowing love for us, we in return have overflowing love for Him. God has poured out His unconditional
love for us. This love transforms us.
God’s love works on us from the inside out. His love heals us.
When we realize how God loves us, we can’t help but to have overflowing
love for others. When we have
God’s overflowing love within us we will be empowered to have a continuous
stream of love to others. Having
love that is overflowing keeps peace within our hearts and brings us joy.
Let your love overflow just like my pool, spilling over the
rim filling up every crevasse and soaking into the soil. Let your love soak into the people
around you so that they have no other choice but to know they are loved.
Dear Lord we know that your love is overflowing. We want our love to be overflowing also. Set us free from all evil and heal our
hearts. When we are thoroughly
cleansed we will be full of love. During our journey of 2012 fill our hearts so
they are overflowing.
Philippians 1:1-11 (NLT)
Greetings from Paul
1 This letter is from
Paul and Timothy, slaves of Christ Jesus.
I am writing to all of God’s holy people
in Philippi who belong to Christ Jesus, including the elders[a] and deacons.
2 May God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace.
Paul’s Thanksgiving and Prayer
3 Every time I think of you, I give thanks to my God. 4 Whenever I pray,
I make my requests for all of you with joy, 5 for you have been my partners in spreading
the Good News about Christ from the time you first heard it until now. 6 And I am certain
that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it
is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.
7 So it is right that I should feel as I do about all of you, for you
have a special place in my heart. You share with me the special favor of God,
both in my imprisonment and in defending and confirming the truth of the Good
News. 8 God knows how much I love you and long for you with the tender
compassion of Christ Jesus.
9 I pray that your love will overflow more and more, and that you will
keep on growing in knowledge and understanding. 10 For I want you to understand what really
matters, so that you may live pure and blameless lives until the day of
Christ’s return. 11 May you always be filled with the fruit of your salvation—the
righteous character produced in your life by Jesus Christ[b]—for this will bring much glory and praise
to God.
