My word for May 14th is MOTHER

My word for May 14th is MOTHER

I have always said that being a mother is the hardest job in the world.  It is difficult, but yet rewarding at the same time.  You will have times that you cry, times that you laugh, and times that you are worried.  You may try to do the tough love thing, however it may be impossible to follow through.  You see the good characteristics that your children have inherited and you also see the bad that they were so lucky to aquire.  You hope that they are listening to you only to find that they didn’t .  You preach to them about being careful only for them to think they are invincible. Motherhood goes from one phase to another, every phase being different but all being challenging.

Isaiah 66:13  “As one whom his mother comforteth, so will I comfort you”.  God wants us all to be comforting.  He knows that this is the main characteristic that a mother possesses.  He wants us to love and care for everyone as they are our own.  Jesus acted as a parent to those who were in need.  He showed his tender maternal nature in his healing and teaching.    Just as compassion lies at the heart of the Christian faith, compassion also lies in the heart of a mother.

Being a mother of three daughters I know for a fact that the hardest job can also be the best job.  My Mothers Day weekend consisted of one graduating from college, moving one daughter to Little Rock, moving one daughter from the dorm to a house, while the youngest was ready to get home to see her boyfriend, so Happy Mothers Day to me.  Even though busy and crazy, I wouldn’t have wanted to spend the day any other way.  Happy Mothers Day to all of you who are mothers.  I hope everyone had a great day yesterday.  To those of you who aren’t mothers, you can share the compassion you have in your hearts sharing your love to others.

Dear Lord thank you for all the mothers in the world.  We pray for those who have lost their mothers and we pray for those mothers who have lost their children.  You have blessed the world with mothers, but you have also blessed all of us with compassion.   Thank you for sharing your love with us.  During 2012 help us to share comfort to those around us.
