My word for May 10th ADVERSITY
Tim Horton, recruiting coordinator for the Arkansas
Razorbacks, was the guest speaker at the “Stuttgart Ricebird” sports banquet. He knows how to give the perfect speech. The speech reached every ear that
listened young and old. He made his points and made them well,
and it was all of about 10 minutes.
Tim did a great job. While
going through a period of adversity the four points he said were these, it is
ok to mourn, get up off your canvas, work hard, and never quit. Anna my third child is an example of
doing what Tim said. Dealing with
adversity this year has made her stronger. She was upset at first, cried a little, but then got up and
moved on. She has worked hard at
everything she has been involved in and she definitely has never quit. Anna was awarded several awards at the
sports banquet last night. She was
named All-Conference and All-State in softball. She was also chosen to play in the Jr. Classic in June and
was listed as the number two player in our conference. I am very proud of her and her
accomplishments. Through adversity
she has thrived. Anna has gained
strength and challenged herself to grow through adversity. At a young age she has learned that
with God we can press on through any adversity.
When faced with adversity we should realize that times of suffering
are normal. Adversity happens, we
will have troubles and issues.
While going through adversity God is developing something in our
life. He knows that we need to be
strengthened. We should look at
God as our teacher and we as his students. God teaches us something through hardship. Just as a teacher teaches students by
example so does God. He is making
us become knowledgable by dealing with adversity first hand. We are getting hands on
experience. Hands on learning helps us in many
ways. God first gets our
attention. We need a change and he
is bound and determined to change us.
Adversity makes us examine us and who is around us. We may need to change our outlook on
life, or change our direction. We
may need to disconnect from those around us that steal our peace. Adversity is our opportunity to grow
and change and be led to a stronger better life.
When faced with adversities look at it as a blessing, a
chance to change and have growth.
Let adversity make you and not break you. During your journey of 2012 take on adversity allowing it to
change you into the person God wants you to be.
Dear Lord we know that adversity makes us stronger. Please be our guide and our teacher as
we face the trials of life. Help
us to see that it is the change that comes from adversity that we benefit
from. During 2012, with you by our
side, help us to grow from the situations that cause us difficulty.
James 1:2-4 (NIV)
2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters,[a] whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know
that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4 Let perseverance
finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
