My word for July 2 is WASHING MACHINE
Since being married, I have gone from a small washer with an
agitator to the extra large front-loading barrel washer. The new washers are supposed to wash
just about everything in one load.
When all the girls are home the washer runs non- stop, it never
quits. When it is just
Anna at home, I only have to wash twice a week. Several times my washer has broken and I have gone into a
panic. Sometimes I have so many
towels, because girls think they have to use 2 towels every time they
bathe. Jay use to say we should
have purchased two dryers because the dryer can’t keep up with the washer. I am very thankful for my washer; I
can’t imagine if I had lived years ago and had to wash our clothes in a tub
with the water being heated on a gas stove then the laundry hung on a line to
dry. I know I would have survived,
but what a convenience we have today.
Our lives are like washing
machines. Sometimes we are twisted
and spun around. Sometimes we are
agitated. Many times we can’t get
clean with just one wash or with regular washing detergent. We sometimes have to be sanitized or we
have to add an extra ingredient to get us clean. Many times we have to soak in stain remover. We have also experienced times when
people have hung us out to dry. No
worries though we can become clean.
That extra ingredient we need to sanitize us is the Lord. He helps us to get rid of the filth, so
we won’t have any dirty laundry. He
takes us unclean, filthy, and full of grime and gets us spic and span.
To become clean we can’t just sit
back and do nothing. We need
to go to God in prayer, asking for forgiveness. We need to read God’s word everyday, so that His word will
help purify us. We were fearfully
and wonderfully made by God in His image and likeness, so we should walk in
faith everyday seeking Him first. One thing is certain when we follow the Lord in all that we do
we will come out of the wash cleaner, brighter and better than before.
Dear Lord please cleanse us. Purify us and rinse out any evil that lingers within
us. Guide us in ways that will
lead to only cleanliness. Make us
clean in every way, removing all impurities. During our journey of 2012 remind
us to throw ourselves in the washer every now and then so You can do Your
cleaning.
Psalm 51:2 NIV
Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin.
Quote:
Life is like a washing machine. It
twists, turns & knocks us around, but in the end we come out cleaner,
brighter & better than before.
