My word for July 15th is BORROW
While driving home today I heard the song, “Good To Be
Alive” by Jason Gray. The one word
in the song that jumped out at me was "borrow". We borrow things from people all the
time. We may borrow clothes or
shoes or we may borrow dishes for a party or an egg for a cake. We may borrow a book to read or
we may borrow a recipe to bake.
Many times when we borrow something we may forget to return it. I have done this before and then found
the item months later and felt awful.
Maybe it is a good idea to make a list of borrowed items. Those things that have been borrowed
from you and those things that you have borrowed. Then maybe we won’t forget.
I read a story while searching the web. (sermon link below)
A patient went into the doctor’s office to get the results from a test. The doctor told the patient he had some
good news and some bad news. The
good news is you only have 24 hours to live. The patient looked at the doctor strangely and said, “that
is good news what is the bad news”?
I was supposed to tell you yesterday. Oh my can you imagine.
We are here on this earth living on borrowed time. We aren’t promised tomorrow, but many
of us feel that we are invincible.
What if you knew that you only had a week or so to live? Would you live life differently? Our whole life is a gift from God. As in Mark 12:30 ~ “And thou shalt love
the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy
mind, and with all thy strength.”
Begin everyday with Him.
Never miss an opportunity to thank Him for what you have been blessed
with. Don’t waste your time use
your time wisely. Take time for
the Lord; take time for those you love, and take time to enjoy the simple
things. We are so busy in our
hustle and bustle of life, like Martha, we overlook that which is
important. Be more like
Mary. Mary sat at the feet
of Jesus and listened. We all need
a little bit more of “stop and smell the coffee” times. Times to just sit and listen.
Don’t wait until you run out of time. Don’t wait until the doctors tell you,
you only have 24 hours to live. We
live on borrowed time. Use it
wisely. Don’t end up saying should~a
would~a could~a!
James 4:13-14(NIV)
13 Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that
city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” 14 Why, you do not
even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that
appears for a little while and then vanishes.
Dear God help us to slow down and smell the roses. Open our eyes to see what is important. Help us to organize our life so we don’t
feel stretched. We want those
special people in our lives to know we care. Many times we feel that we need 26 hours in a day instead of
24. Assist us in fitting all that
we need into the day and getting rid of the trash that doesn’t matter. During 2012 we know we need to live
everyday like there isn’t a tomorrow.
