HAVE FAITH AND FOLLOW GOD'S LESSON PLANS FOR YOU!

MY WORD FOR JUNE 5 IS LESSON!

MY WORD FOR JUNE 5TH IS LESSON

As I have said before, my high school English teacher told me, “I was the only student that she couldn’t teach how to write.”  This was a lesson that I supposedly couldn’t master.  There have been many lessons that I have taught to students in twenty-three years.  Some lessons aren’t successful, but when not successful the teacher doesn’t give up they try something else.  Writing is a difficult task to teach, but when taught with a variety of tactics a writer can be made out of anyone.  There are tricks that students use to make their writing become a work of art.   Organizing what the writer is going to write is just as important as the finished product.  Figurative language can be used to make words have style and voice.  There are ways to make sentences have more breadth and depth.  When teaching writing, breaking the process down into segments makes the process easier, beginning with the hook.  Just like a good book, the writer has to hook the reader.  Once you have the hook in you have caught them.  Writing is a way that gives a person an outlet to express how they feel.  Writing to me use to be a chore, now it is a blessing.

Life lessons can be easy or they can be difficult.  Much like a piece of writing, our life is organized, just not on paper.  God had our life organized for us from the day we were born.  He has a plan.  Every segment is joined together through a series of life lessons.  We sometimes try to rearrange our life, organizing it differently than the way God has put it together.  It doesn’t work when we try to reorganize it or adjust it.  We aren’t the teacher we are the student.  When we follow the way the teacher has organized our lives for us we will flow much like a graceful flowing stream. There are tactics that make our lesson of life easier.  If we put our lives in God’s hands, being led by Him, our lives will have style and voice, giving us purpose.  Some parts of our written lives can be difficult, but by changing just a few things here and there our lives will become examples of the good, and not the bad or the ugly.  It is never too late to start your writing piece over.  Throw your junk in the trash.  Don’t dwell on the lessons that may have stolen your peace, even though you can’t erase it you can learn from those lessons.

God has already written your story, it is up to you to live it.  Learn from God’s life lessons for you, don’t think you can’t, and add some tricks to spice up the life intended for you.  You can and you will, by living with God.  During 2012 take the challenge and learn from God’s lessons.

Jeremiah 1:8 NIV
Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you, “declares the Lord.

Dear Lord thank you for teaching us, even though some of our life lessons we don’t like, we know that we can learn from them.  We realize at times we are difficult students, either not following directions or finishing the task, but we know You won’t give up on us.  Thank You for believing that “we can” and thank you for not giving up on us.  During our journey of 2012 keep helping us turn the pages of our written life so that we will enjoy the wonderful days ahead that You have planned for us.

STICK TO COOKING UP A LIFE WITH GOD!

MY WORD FOR JUNE 3 IS COOK!

My word for June 3rd is COOK

Katie is home for several weeks before she goes back to college for summer classes.  While she is home one of the things that we are doing together is cook and put all the recipes in “Katie’s Cookbook”.  Katie, since living in a house next year, wants to learn how to cook different meals.  She is a natural in the kitchen, so it doesn’t take much to teach her the details of cooking.  She whipped up tuna salad the other day, boiled eggs and all.  We’ve made chicken and noodles, party potatoes, chicken kabobs, Alf redo sauce, and have many more items on our list.  You never know what we are going to come up with; we may come up with something new during this cooking journey.

Our lives are much like cooking using a recipe.  Just as a recipe there are many ingredients involved.   We were born with certain ingredients and as we grew different ingredients were added.  Our family, our friends, and our experiences add extra ingredients to make us who we are today.  These other ingredients that are added make us better and full of flavor or bitter and full of hate.   It depends on what we add as to what the outcome will be.  Some ingredients are mandatory, while others are just extra to enhance the flavor. After the proper ingredients are added they are mixed together, mixing so that we have a smooth concoction hopefully not lumpy.  Even if lumpy, these lumps can be stirred out.  After the mixture is placed in the pan to cook it goes in the oven.  The oven of life may be at the correct temperature or it may be too hot or too cold.  The temperature of our oven can be the determinate of the outcome.  When our oven is too hot we will get burned, but when at the proper temperature we will be cooked to perfection.

While cooking the recipe for the perfect life we must do the following, first we must put God first.    He has to be number one in our lives.  We must have faith in Him and His plan for us.   Next pray to Him taking time out of your day to spend time in your quiet place, asking for forgiveness, mercy and peace.  Even though sometimes hard to do, we must love everyone, even those that seem unlovable.  We can’t forget the ingredient of patience.  It isn’t our timing it is God’s timing.  It may not happen quickly, it may take a long time to be cooked all the way through.   Last but not least, find peace living with God through His word.  The bible gives us answers to every question that we have.   It tells us the rights and the wrongs, the good and the bad.  It even tells us how to ask for forgiveness of our sins.  God wants us to have a healthy life.  He will prepare us and bake us to healthy perfection.  Even if we add the wrong ingredients or burn the recipe we can try again.   God never gives up on us, even if He has to wait for us to be blue ribbon ready.

Just as we want a finished product that taste of perfection, god wants a finished product that he can be proud of.  A finished product that is heaven ready.  Be sure as you are walking this road of life you add the correct ingredients to make you the person God wants you to be.  Your recipe of life should be one that is God ready.  It will be an award winning one that is ready for the bake sale of life.

Heb 4:2 "For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as unto them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it. "

Dear Lord help us cook up the perfect life.  We want to add ingredients that will assist us in sharing peace, love, and joy with those around us.  Keep us away from those ingredients that make us bitter and not better.  Add into our mixing bowl what only You know that we need.  We want our life during 2012 to be cooked to perfection for You.

GET UP OUT OF THAT POTHOLE!

ROLL ON OVER THE POTHOLES IN LIFE!

MY WORD FOR JUNE 2 IS POTHOLE!

My word for June 2nd is POTHOLE

My favorite YouTube ad is the Geico commercial with the talking pothole.  A fancy car speeds around the corner and hits a large hole in the asphalt.  Immediately the car has a flat tire.  As the tire goes flat the pothole begins to speak.  I don’t know what is funnier to me the pothole talking or the sound of the voice.  It sounds much like a southern accent.  The pothole says, “Oh no did I do that, your tires all flat and junk”.  I love it, I can watch it over and over and it makes me laugh.  I even have the whole commercial memorized.  The pothole continues by saying, “let me get out my cellular device and call you a wrecker, oh I forgot I don’t got no cellular device”.   The tone of the pothole’s voice however sounds as if the pothole really doesn’t care if it gave the car a flat or if it gets help.  Shame on that pothole!

Life is much like hitting a pothole.  We may be riding down the road of life minding our own business enjoying the day and all of a sudden we hit a pothole.  Potholes, the disruption in the surface of the roadway, can damage us beyond repair if we aren’t careful.  They can tear our tires apart and leave us stuck in a rut. We all hit potholes; no one is immune to them.  When we hit a pothole we have a choice, we can either stay in the pothole or we can jump out of the indention and move on.  How long we waste sitting in the pit of our pothole is our choice, the longer we sit the deeper we will go.  Potholes are only temporary stop signs in our journey.  There are however many lessons to learn from the bottom of the pothole.  We have the choice to grow from a pothole instead of being buried in it.  Let it make you stronger.  Call on the Lord for help.  He purposefully puts potholes in our road to get us where He needs for us to be.   When we hit these potholes of life God is there to fix our flats.  He inflates us with his spirit and sends us riding down the road again.

As we drive down this road of 2012 we may hit potholes.  These potholes may give us a flat or we can realize to just hit them and move on. Traveling with God will enable us to understand these holes in the road and use them as a life lesson instead of a death sentence.  When you hit the pothole get on your cellular device and call God, he will fix your flat.

In Jesus, all things are possible (Luke 18:27)

Seek first the kingdom of God, and all these other things will fall in place (Matthew 6:33)
