The weather has been out of
the ordinary for this time of year. It
is winter and we are riding our bikes, walking around the neighborhood and playing
outside. Crazy weather. I love it though. The other day I rode my bike across
town. I had to go through a rough
neighborhood to get to the other side.
Usually that doesn’t bother me, however as I pedaled by one home a huge
mean dog came running after me. I
started pedaling faster and faster. Soon
the dog came to a screeching halt as he was jerked back by a large chain. Praise the Lord!!!
Praise the Lord that dog was
on a chain. He was in restraints and
couldn’t chomp down on my leg, however when I thought about it later it made me
sad. That poor dog was chained to a 5-foot
chain. He couldn’t go anywhere except
the small space where the chain could reach.
And he was a big dog. He needed
to be able to run and play. Of course he
was mean and angry.
Are you on a chain? Are you confined to a certain area in your
life? Do you feel you can’t go any farther
than your chain will reach? Do you have
strongholds that are chaining you to your current state of mind?
It is time to break the
chains of bondage.
The people of Israel were
chained to Egypt. They were chained to
slavery. God wasn’t fond of this
situation, so He sent Moses to set His people free. Through work Moses accomplished God’s mission
and God’s people were free to go. Pharaoh’s
chains were broken and God’s people walked into the wilderness. He delivered them out of the confined space
and broke the chains.
It is time for you to walk
out of Egypt and be set free. If we
continue to stay on the short chain, like the dog, we will become mean and
angry. Our hearts will be hard and we
will be unable to do the job God wants us to do. We can be set free. God can and will cut the chains that are
holding us prisoner. It is by grace
alone that our bondage is broken. Just
like the Israelites, He will set us apart.
God is committed to love and
we too should be like Him and seek and love Him first. It is by this love and faithfulness that we
are set free. Our strongholds are broken
and we can walk in the wilderness at peace.
Don’t confine yourself by a
short chain. Let God break your chain so
you can walk into the wilderness and spread His unwavering love.
