On the other end of the phone was a voice of panic, “Mom
where are you? I have a brush stuck in
my hair! Come home.” I thought to
myself, “It couldn’t be that bad.” How
wrong I was, what a mess. Anna had been blow-drying
her hair and brushing it with a small roller brush, however with one of the
twists and turns the brush was stuck.
Not just a little bit of hair was entwined around the bristles; it was A
LOT of hair. What do I need to help
loosen the hair? I first grabbed the
Pam, sprayed it all over. Then I went
for conditioner. I finally got the
Crisco and a fork. With much patience
and work I finally got the hair untangled from the unforgiving plastic.
Are you stuck? Do you
feel as if you are twisted so tightly that you can’t be released? Are you searching for the ingredient that
will enable you to become what you know you can be?
This senerio led me to the word hope. When we are stuck, when we are in a rut, when
we feel that we can’t get out of the situation we are in, all we need is hope. In biblical terms, hope is closely allied
with faith. In Hebrews 11:1 faith is the
assurance of things hoped for. Hope is
the object upon which we direct our focus and energies. In Romans 8:28 hope is the knowledge that we
are being changed for the better, as we trust in God’s promises. No matter what the circumstances God’s plans
for our lives are for the good, to give us hope.
If you are feeling like the hair wrapped so tightly around
the bristles of a brush don’t give up have hope. Go to God; allow God to renew you, trust His
timing and thank Him for whatever the situation. He will be the Pam, the conditioner and the
Crisco to loosen the bond that is holding you tightly to your current
situation. He will release you from the
bondage that is keeping you from fulfilling His purpose for you. He will untangle you and set you free.
