Katie gave me an early birthday present yesterday. It was a beautiful quartz necklace. I had never seen anything like it. I was amazed and also interested in where she
got it. One of her sorority sisters
takes these gorgeous rocks and makes them into necklaces and earrings. The priceless piece of jewelry comes with the
story of how Rachel began collecting the crystals. As long as she can remember Rachel and her
family have been exploring our home state of Arkansas. They spent many afternoons on the gorgeous
lakes. As a hobby, they would search the
banks of the water to hopefully find crystals.
Even though many times they came up with nothing, her father was
teaching them how to be content with just the beauty of the land. On a good day
they would hit a honey hole of crystal clear quartz. A childhood hobby has now grown into a
business that spreads the nature and beauty of our natural state. These home grown gems that were once just
rocks on the waters edge now can be seen dangling from necks and ears.
These rocks that lye on the edge of water are beat by the
water pounding upon them. They also have
other rocks that crash into them. Even
though they are disturbed they aren’t harmed or broken. They take the constant friction and use it to
make for a beautiful outcome.
We are much like the quartz that is lying on the waters
edge. There is beauty that is deep
within us, but sometimes it takes the pounding of the outside world and the
friction that we experience to make us what we are today. While being shaped we have a ROCK that is a
constant presence. He is strong and
cannot be moved.
There are many places in the bible in which you can find the
Lord being referenced as a rock. For
example:
Psalm 18:2 New International Version
The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my
deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of
my salvation, my stronghold.
2
Samuel 22:3 New
International Version
my God is my rock, in whom I take
refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation. He is my stronghold, my refuge
and my savior-- from violent people you save me.
Psalms 78:35
And they remembered that God was their
rock, And the Most High God their Redeemer.

listed 59 Bible verses referring to the Lord being a ROCK.
Your may not have a rock hanging from your neck or from your
ears, but you do have a ROCK. If you
need something go to your ROCK. He is
the stronghold against your enemy, He is the shield that comes between harm,
and He cannot be moved by anyone or anything that comes to harm us. When we allow God to be our ROCK we have hit
our honey hole. He will not be
moved!
