When we were expecting the arrival of Anna, Jay and I took
the girls to a sibling class. Lauren was
4 and Katie was 1. They were so cute
dressed in their little scrubs, shoe covers, and surgery hats. The nurses began with an introduction, a short
explanation, and then a tour of where I would be. Off the girls went. I can still close my eyes and see Lauren take
Katie by the hand and walk off following the others.
We begin our life with a grand introduction, then our
parents give us explanations for situations and then we are off on our life
tour. Our introduction is pretty similar
to each other. Depending on our parents
our explanations can vary, but hopefully will give us the strength and courage
to walk down this life road. Then we get
cut from the umbilical cord for good and it is time for the world tour. Some of us on this tour will go down the
right roads making every turn correctly and sharply. Always turning on our turn signal when we
need it. Others will hit all the speed
bumps that tell us, “Ok time to slow down,” or “OOPs I made a mistake
again!” We may make a complete u-turn
and head in the other direction. We just
never know on this tour what may be in our path.
Much like the vision I have of Lauren taking Katie’s hand is
how the Lord is here for us. No matter
what turn, road or bump we go down or hit He is holding our hand. The Lord isn’t like a policeman waiting for
us to make a mistake and throwing on the handcuffs. He is like a loving sibling who takes our
hands in His and leads us through all the experiences of life.
Isaiah
41:13 New International Version
(Bible Hub)
For I am the
LORD your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I
will help you.
In this
chapter of Isaiah God speaks with tenderness; Fear not for I am with thee. We have no worries with God holding our
hand. If we are weak, if we are scared,
is we are ashamed, if we are apprehensive we are never alone. The Lord will help us for He is our
redeemer. Even the strongest of people
get tired and worn down at times, but Gods power and strength never
diminish. He is never too tired or too
busy to help us and lead us. His strength
is the source of our strength.
When you feel
that no one is holding your hand remember God is there. He will lead you over the bumps, around the
curves, and through the tunnels of life.
Call upon the Lord, He will grab your hand and be your tour guide for
life.
