REROUTES

I walked in the kitchen this morning to begin my normal routine of the day and flipped the pages of my devotional day brightener (You’re Made for a God-Sized Dream, Halley Gerth).  I started with yesterday instead of today.  It caught my eye because the first five words were “God can speak to people.”  It continued to say, “When they’re standing still.  But most of the time it seems He meets them along the way and redirects them.  Think about the Apostle Paul on the road to Damascus.  Moses in the desert with the burning bush.  The disciples in the middle of their everyday work of being fishermen.”

How many times have you been on a journey and been redirected?  This reminds me of a Bible study book I read once by Priscilla Shirer, Life Interrupted.  Have you ever had your life interrupted?  Everything was going as you had planned and then all of a sudden wham, your life was rerouted.  What do we do in these situations?  We do what is easiest or what should be the easiest turn it over to Him.

When He sends us in another direction at first we may panic, but we must find the blessings in the off beaten path.  He never promised us that we wouldn’t have mountains, steep inclines, potholes or curves.  So when He redirects the journey you are traveling on praise Him on the new road of life.  There is a reason, you may never realize it, but it is there for the better.

So when He interrupts your life or reroutes your life, Let go and follow Him.  Follow Him down the new path He has made for you.
