Last night before going to sleep Jay decided he had a list
of tasks for me to complete today. Yes I
had others things I wanted to get done, but business first. I listened to my instructions, wrote them in
a note and tried to get all the details straight. When he finished he said, “Just do those
things, I don’t want to have to think about it, don’t ask me about them just
get them done.” My instructions were
given to me very directly, so I will get them done!
Have you ever thought about the tasks God has given
you? God has given you the tools to do
whatever it is on His list for you to do.
Just like Jay was telling me to get it done, the Lord is telling us to
get it done. So I ask, “Are you getting
done what the Lord wants you to get done?”
Our time on earth is short; it is a shame if we don’t
embrace the call that God has placed on our lives. God has certain tasks that are specifically
designed for us to do. Jesus refers to
God’s will as His food in John 4:34. God
brings us spiritual nourishment. Doing
the tasks that the Lord has given us is food to us. We are nourished not just by what we take in
but what we give out.
You may saying, “OK I want to do God’s will, I want to be
spiritually nourished, but I don’t know what that call is?” The Lord gives us certain talents and we
discover these through trial and error.
If you fail in one area don’t be discouraged. Keep on searching. Practice and persistent have an amazing
ability to discover the talents and gifts within you. The most successful people are the ones that
play the hand that God has given them.
It would be easier if
the Lord would just hand us a list of tasks directly and say, “This is what I
want you to complete while here on earth,” but he doesn’t want it to be that
easy. What He is telling us is this,
“Find your gifts and talents, use them for me, begin today, and don’t ask Me
questions just get it done.”
