Pray for ASHER!

Pray for Asher and all other children that have been diagnosed with cancer.

My word for May 18th is ASHER!

My word for May 18th is ASHER

Every five weeks I get my hair dipped and clipped.  I love going to Kutting Up and visiting with Diane and Kathleen, they are on my list of my very own personal pep rallies.  They make me feel great.   When I went in last week Diane had a picture on her shelf of the cutest little girl.  I asked who it was and she told me it was Susan Adamson’s little girl Asher.  Susan was much younger than me, but I remember her being a spunky teenager running around town.  Today, while driving home from Little Rock with Lauren, Lauren was looking at Facebook.  She asked me what little cousin of Ashton Adamson’s needed prayers?  As Lauren read on, I realized it was Susan’s little girl Asher, the little girl that I had just commented about in the picture.  Asher was diagnosed yesterday with Ewing’s Sarcoma.  Ewing’s Sarcoma is a rare bone cancer that forms small tumors on parts of a bone.  It usually stays localized in one area, however Asher’s has metastasized to other areas of her body.  Monday Asher and her family will begin the journey for Asher’s life.

When young innocent children become sick we always ask why?  Why does this happen to children?  These are questions that we will never be able to comprehend or understand.  I do know that God loves each of us and He doesn’t cause sickness.  He knows the heartache that comes to those who have to see their child suffer. God had to watch his own son die for our sins.  This was the hardest thing He had to do.  He was there when His son was tortured and killed.   As we watch those that we love hurt and suffer we emotionally do not understand.  However, we must realize that even though it is hard for us to handle, every situation happens for a reason.  God isn’t the cause of suffering, but He is the only solution. The key to healing is to believe.  We must have faith and trust that God is always acting for the ultimate good for each of us.  He is our hope for the future, the hope for healing.

God has a purpose for every sickness.  We don’t have the answer to why, but it isn’t for us to figure out.  All we need to do is put our faith in God and He will prevail.  He will heal.

Dear Lord be with Asher and her family as she begins her journey of healing.   Be with them and comfort them during the treatments that will destroy the cancer that has invaded her body.  Assist us in praying for what Asher needs and aid the doctors in knowing exactly what will work best.  Please relieve her tiny body from any pain and lessen the heartache that Asher’s parents have in their hearts.  We pray that during 2012 Asher is healed and so are the many other children that are suffering.

Mark 11:24
Jesus said, “Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.”

Luke 8:50
“Hearing this, Jesus said to Jairus, ‘Don’t be afraid; just believe, and she will be healed.”

My word for May 17th is APPEARANCE

My word for May 17th is APPEARANCE

All over the media, on television shows and in magazines, there is always something being said about appearance. “What Not to Wear”, Cosmo, and Victoria Secret are just a few that push sexy and thin.   Then there is Botox, plastic surgery, and tanning beds.  Young women are being made to feel that they have to do certain things to look good.    The impression is given off that thin is beautiful; you must be thin to be pretty.  Last month on Anderson Cooper his guests were mothers and daughters.    These mothers were obsessed with their appearances.  They exercises, tanned, and put their daughters on the same plans.  One daughter said her mother had her on a diet since age 5. Anderson also had brides on his show discussing how they shrunk their bodies to fit into their dresses and got the perfect look for the big day.  These women went to extreme measures to fit in that special wedding dress.  One bride went on the KE diet and shed 20 pounds in 10 days.  She had a feeding tube that ran from her nose to her stomach.   This tube put protein, fat, and water into her.  She didn’t eat at all.  There is also an app that everyone can get on his or her phone called the “ugly meter”.  You take a picture and the app tells you, on a scale from 1-10, how ugly or how beautiful you are.  What are we doing to young girls?  There is so much pressure on girls to be thin and beautiful.  Tara Banks is finished with this nonsense of being bone thin.  She, along with others, is pressing forward for girls to have curves and realize that all females go through stages in life where their bodies change.  By using her show, “Next Top Model” Tara is showing that you can be heavier and be beautiful; you don’t have to be a walking toothpick starving yourself to death.

My grandma always told me, “Pretty is as pretty does”!  This is the same way God feels.  God doesn’t care about your appearance.   He doesn’t want you to abuse your body He wants you to be healthy, but in His eyes everyone is beautiful.  God made each of us in His image He doesn’t make trash.  Everyone is an individual and is unique having his or her own qualities and characteristics.  God’s focus is on developing your inner beauty.  Being beautiful on the inside reflects out to others.  We should focus on our heart and on our actions and keep our appearance in perspective.  It is a fact that we will all age.  We shouldn’t be unhappy with wrinkles or gray. Those are the markings that give us character and show the world that we have experienced many things during our lifetime.  God wants us to work on our inside beauty the kind of beauty that lasts forever.  This beauty makes us shine from the inside out continually giving to others.

You are a masterpiece no matter what your outward appearance shows.  You are wonderfully made by God.  We are just like snowflakes no two alike, but each beautiful.

Dear God we know that we need to stay healthy for You, but we also know that you have made each of us unique individuals.  You have made us each have a special appearance.  You have specific plans for us that allow us to have the characteristics that we each have.   Help us to show others our beauty that You have created within us.   During 2012 assist us in letting our inner beauty shine.

1 Samuel 16:7 NIV - "The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

GOD KEEPS YOU GOING!

My word for May 16th is FIGHTER!

My word for May 16th is FIGHTER

Aimee Copeland was kayaking with friends when she stopped to ride a homemade zip line that she and her friends had rigged.  As she was crossing the river the line snapped and she went crashing into the water.  She suffered a gash to her left calf.  Now Aimee is fighting for her life.  After several trips back to the emergency room for pain Aimee was told that a flesh-eating bacteria had invaded her wound.   The rare flesh-eating bacterium was necrotizing fasciitis, which can destroy skin, fat, and muscle.  The bacteria had already spread up her leg, and doctors had to amputate her left leg beginning at the hip.  Aimee is a 24-year-old master’s student at the University of West Georgia.  Her family stated that she is a “bright star, lover of life, infinitely generous of heart and spirit.”  Her community knows what a fighter she is.  They are helping to add to her fight by having blood drives, collecting money, and having fundraisers.

Aimee, being a masters of psychology student, believed that we are part of the web of life.  Just as the leaf has no separate existence from the tree we have no existence if we are separated from God.  Aimee is particularly interested in the study and practice of re-harmonizing with nature as a means for creating psychological health and vitality.  She believes in being one with nature letting go and letting your true self emerge.  Opening your heart and be the full person that you are destined to be.  God wants us to be in existence with Him knowing that without Him we won’t be the true person we are destined to become.  Enjoy nature let go of the world that sometimes holds us back and sends negativities our way.  Let go of what steals our peace and become full of tranquility.  Be the fighter.  God wants us all to be fighters; He wants us to never give up.  God helps us fight the fight.  He stands beside us pushing us to victory.  Just as the leaf is part of the tree, God is part of us.  As the leaves change with every season God changes us for every season preparing us for what lies ahead.  He enables us to fight the fight whatever the fight may be.

With God we are all fighters.  During 2012 fight your fight whatever that may be; you will have victory existing with God.

I Timothy 6:12
Fight the good fight of the faith.  Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

Dear God prepare us to be fighters.  Whatever we encounter we will have our weapons ready.  Our shields and armor of believing will stay strong and will protect us.  Help us brace our minds and bodies to anticipate wars to come during 2012.  When we confront adversity during this year give us peace after the battle.
