Up I jumped out of the chair, oh my gosh! The pain radiated through my foot. What had I come in contact with? Yep the wasp.
The wasp that had been swarming around the outside picnic table had struck again. It had already penetrated its stinger into two
other people. Thank goodness I’m not
allergic to wasp stings.
Have you ever been stung?
It may not have been a wasp, but maybe something else in your life may
have stung you. Maybe it was a good
sting and not a painful one. I have come
in contact with both, good stings and bad stings. Bad stings and good stings can change your
life.
The woman walked her daily walk to dip the water out of the
well. She walked alone. She was an outcast. She had inflicted the sting of loneliness
upon herself, but she was getting ready to experience the best sting of her
life. This woman had tried to fix all
her problems with men. It hadn’t turned
out like she wanted, however at the well that day was the man that was going to
save her.
Jesus was waiting on her.
He already knew her story. He
knew that it was on this day he was going to save her. He knew that he was to walk through the town
that day, the town that other Jews wouldn’t venture through. He knew that he was the man she needed to
satisfy the ache in her heart.
That is exactly what he did.
He went straight to her heart with the sting. She is however spiritual dead and it takes
her a while to understand the reference Jesus is making with living water. She has been dipping for so long in the wrong
water that it is difficult for her to understand it is the living water she
needs to place her dipper in.
The Lord will try over and over again to speak to us. It may be through something dull or it might
be through a sting. It may take us
awhile to understand the significance of the encounter. Whatever
it takes He knows what approach will work the best.
Feel the spiritual sting that will change your life. The sting may be painful, but the outcome is
comforting.
