STUFF

Stuff, do you have lots of it?  I sit, look around and wonder when in the world I collected all of the stuff that is located around my home.  Most of the items are just dust collectors.  Many don’t mean anything nor do I even remember where they came from.  So I ask myself is all this STUFF really important?

While preparing for Christmas are you collecting more stuff to give to others?  Have you already spent hours pondering on what stuff to buy?  I know I’m guilty.

While we are preparing for the birth of Jesus let us think about stuff.  Jesus tells us about stuff in Matthew 6:19-12.  He warns us not to get entangled in what we think are our treasures on earth.  When we do our heart ends up in the wrong place.  What we treasure the most controls us.  We should live contently with what we have.   When we do our reward is much greater than all the stuff we accumulate.

Matthew 6:19-21New International Version (NIV)
Treasures in Heaven
19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Don’t get too attached to the material stuff.  This stuff can break, go out of style and wear out.  These things only lead to disappointment.

During this time when we are preparing for the birth of Jesus don’t get wrapped up in stuff.  Wrap yourself around the things in life that are important.  Choose eternal life over temporary treasures.

Join me as I read and write about my adventure to the birth of baby Jesus through these three wonderful reads!
