My word for April 15th MAD
To be 17 years old Marcus Crone is full of compassion and by
him having this characteristic he was able to “Make A Difference” in a young girls life. He did something that most
teenagers wouldn’t’ do. He asked
another senior to prom, but this was no ordinary senior. Chelsea was special she had Down
Syndrome. She had always wanted to
go to prom. She had never had a
date and she wanted to make this her first. Chelsea gathered all the bravery she had and asked a fellow
senior only to her disappointment, he said, “no”. Marcus heard what had happened and it bothered him
greatly. He went to Chelsea’s home
with a sign that read, “Chelsea will you go to prom with me”. They showed the video on the news of
Chelsea reading the poster with Marcus standing at the door. She had to read it twice. After the second read she quickly said,
“Yes, Yes”! Chelsea’s mother retold the story, “Marcus made her feel like Cinderella,
it was the best moment of her entire life. Marcus is one kid that made a difference and I want the
world to see what an amazing young man he is. People are out there that will do good things, but then
won’t follow through they only think about it. Marcus followed through, he is a hero”.
I have many people that have “Made A Difference” in my life, continue to make a difference, and
I also know people that make a difference in others lives. One of my very dear friends, Amy, lost
her sister, Marci, to suicide several years ago. It always bothers me that after Marci moved I didn’t keep in
touch with her. I always feel that
if I would have sent cards or called maybe it would have made a
difference. Karen and Lisa went to
visit Stacey Monday. I know it
made a difference, not just to Stacey but also to them. They visited, laughed, and talked about
good times. This could be the
visit that gave Stacey the strength and hope to press on and continue the
fight. My week this week hasn’t
been wonderful. When I got home
last night I had flowers. The card
read, “Smile, we love you”, Natalie and Amy.
The Holy Spirit lives within us. He plays a vital role in God’s plan. This is where we get those gut
feelings. He intercedes and
prompts us to make the difference.
He searches our hearts, talks to us, teaches us things, and reminds us
of scripture. The Holy Spirit
works in us helping perfect us. To
perfect us he pushes us to be the difference, care about people, act in the
ways God would want us to. The
Holy Spirit sends emotions that come with great intensity. We may sometimes struggle and not
follow through, but when the force given by the Holy Spirit arrives we must
act.
Don’t have a regret.
Don’t wait to do something for someone. You never know when just a kind word, a phone call, or an
inspirational card will “Make A Difference”. The management of emotions is critical
to the spiritual life. The spirit
of God has the job to mold the human ability to have emotions that show
Christ’s character. Scriptures
states that we should work to be Christ like. When in a situation and our gut is telling us to act just
say to yourself “What would Jesus do?” You will know the answer and you will “MAKE A DIFFERENCE”.
Dear Lord help us to
make a difference in those around us.
Lead us to those in need.
Give us that gut feeling when someone really needs a kind word or a
helping hand. Don’t allow us to be
scared to approach others. We know
it may be that gesture that saves a life.
Thank you for helping us make a difference during 2012.
John 14:14-18 NIV
14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.
Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit 15 “If you love
me, keep my commands. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you
another advocate to help you and be with you forever— 17 the Spirit of
truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him.
But you know him, for he lives with you and will be [a] in you. 18 I will not leave you as orphans; I will
come to you.
Proverbs 1:2-3 New Living Translation (©2007)
Come and listen to my counsel. I'll share my heart with you and make
you wise.
You cannot do a
kindness too soon, for you never know how soon it will be too late. Ralph Waldo Emerson
