I decided to revisit the book of John in the First5 app this
morning. I landed on verse 5 where the
man had been paralyzed on his mat for many years. Jesus stopped to talk with the man and he
told Jesus that no one would help him off his mat. Jesus responded, “Get up and move
yourself.” Jesus probably wasn’t that
curt, but you get what I’m saying.
This man was filled with excuses. He was playing the blame game, blaming his
condition on others. The whole time he
laid there waiting for someone else to help him. If he had only realized that he could move
himself.
When I think about this I just shake my head. This poor man in this condition for so long
when all he had to do was go a few feet into a pool of water and he would be
healed. Instead he sat gazing into the
water hoping that one day someone would move him.
How many times have you made excuses? Have you sat only a few feet away from a
miracle and not taken it? Have you been
paralyzed with fear, worry or anxiety not wanting to move?
The Lord wants you to get up and going. He wants you to realize that you can move
yourself. You don’t need help from
others in this world. As long as you
have faith in Him locking your eyes on his truth than you can move. You can move yourself to the pool of hope and
transformation.
Redirect your focus on the one who heals and gives you
direction. Take the first step off your
mat and walk with Jesus. He never leaves
you nor forsakes you. The pool to
cleanse you is only a few feet away. Its time to move off your mat and get your
feet wet.
