CHANGE

Have you taken one of those quizzes on Facebook?

You click to see who your partner in crime is, who your roommate should be, who is just like you and much more.  I clicked on the one that said,
“Your word for 2016.”  At first I was shocked and thought, “Why couldn’t I have gotten an uplifting word?”  But after a few days I have changed my perspective.

My word for 2016 is CHANGE.  I didn’t want the word change.

Who wants to be faced with the word CHANGE? We want life to be predictable and peaceful.  We want to be able to place every date on our calendar and not have to erase or white out anything that WE have planned.

Jeremiah 29:11New International Version (NIV)
11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Lets face it we will have change.  We should just expect it.  We will encounter good change and difficult change.  Sometimes even transformative change.

Changes can be easy or they can be difficult.  It all depends on how we react to the change.  I think about Jesus.  I think how He probably didn’t really like the crucifixion part of His journey, but He knew it was His Fathers plan and it couldn’t be altered.

Romans 8:28 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good

So why do we try to alter God’s plans for us?

The out of the ordinary scares us.  It brings us face to face with fear and anxiety.  Change is scary especially when we don’t plan it.

Proverbs 16:9 The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps

Envision yourself at God’s door of 2016.  We have all knocked and the door has opened.  It can’t be shut and we have to walk through.  We have opened up the door for God’s plans for us.  He walks this journey with us hand in hand.  We may question some of the happenings on our journey, but they are all meant for our good.

Revelation 3:20New International Version (NIV)
20 Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.

Listen to Him, follow His plan and 2016 will be filled with memorable moments that will change your life forever.  Change is good!

John 10:27-29New International Version (NIV)
27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all[a]; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand.

I pray because the need flows out of me all the time, waking and sleeping.  It doesn’t change God, it changes me.
C.S. Lewis
