Yesterday I swept out the garage. As I swept, I noticed a dusty box sitting in
the corner. As I opened it dust and
spiders flew out, but also did the smell of my mothers house. In this box my momma had packed up many of my
old favorite books. As I pulled them out
one of the first ones I grabbed was “The Children’s Living Bible.” I opened and
found, in perfect cursive, that this molded treasure was given to me Easter
1974. I began searching the pages and
found a bookmark that was placed 40 years ago in the pages of Isaiah
47-48-49.
On these pages is the story of Babylon and King Nebuchadnezzar’s
pursuit of power and pleasure. If you
know this story you have read how God took care of this and left the king with
nothing. The Babylonians sought advice from
the help of astrologers, but of course those couldn’t help them. They became filled with adversities. This leads me to ask you: What are you using your life for, to honor
God or a king Nebuchadnezzar? Are you
living in a Babylon with your life being tested, complicated and difficult? Do you want to leave your present day Babylon
and live in perfect peace?
In Beth Moore’s bible study of Daniel, Moore focused on
Babylon and King Nebuchadnezzar. If you
know anything about Babylon it wasn’t a good place. Sometimes today’s world isn’t a good place
and you may have a King Nebuchadnezzar in your life. Beth Moore tells, in her study, that we
should remove ourselves from the wicked Babylon ways of the world today. Don’t be filled with sin. Don’t be led into the destructive life of
today. There are many King
Nebuchadnezzar’s lurking in the shadows.
Get away from them.
God wants us to live for Him and what He created us to
do. He wants us to fill our life with
traveling down the path He has laid out for us.
Begin today truly depending on Him with all your heart and mind. Get out of the Babylon and away from living
for false kings. Live for Him, move on
and spread His word. Walk out of the
shadows and into His light.
