ONWARD

ONWARD

As I was reading my lesson for my bible study, the song “Onward Christian Soldiers” came to my mind.  We have been studying the leaving of Egypt so this song was very appropriate.  I remember singing this song when I was a little girl, standing next to my mom and the both of us singing out very loud and proud.  That song just makes you do that.  So with that I ask you, are you traveling down this journey marching onward as a Christian soldier?

While marching down this road of life we must be soldiers.  We will venture into enemy’s territory.  We will march into the homeland.  We will come across situations that we feel we can’t win.  We will win some battles, and then again we may lose a few.    Whether winning or losing we should still march on.  March on through the jungle, being challenged by many circumstances that make us ask the questions why?

Even though our journey may be difficult it will be worth it.  The Lord is with us just as He was with the Israelites as the crossed the desert.  He parted the Red Sea, He changed the water so they could drink it, He led them to a place where there were springs and gave them food.  It is during these battles that we must press onward knowing that He is with us.  We must trust and have faith in Him.

Deuteronomy 31:6
New International Version (NIV)
Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”

TALK TO GOD HE WILL PART THE WATERS

RED SEA

RED SEA

I had several friends this week whose children were at a RED SEA moment of their lives.  These are the times when you will think that everything is going great and “wham” just like that a barrier is put before you.  You can’t go through it, you can’t go over it, you can’t even go around it the only thing you can do is deal with it.  Have you ever been in one of those situations?  Every thing was going as you had planned and all of a sudden your life goes into a tailspin.  So what do we do when you encounter a RED SEA moment?

Lets go back and remember what happened when the Israelites were at the edge of the RED SEA.  They looked ahead and there was the water with no land in sight.  They looked behind and the Egyptian army was gaining on them.  They just knew that Moses had led them to the barrier of the RED SEA because there weren’t enough graves in Egypt for them.  (This was a joke- Egypt no burial sites?)  We know what happened next, the sea parted!  The waters were parted and the Israelites journeyed through the split waters.  The Egyptians weren’t that lucky.  As they ventured into the path of the parted, the waves began to close back in on them.  The Israelites were saved and safe to journey onward.

When you come to your Red Sea don’t give up or be discouraged; the Lord is just waiting for the right time to part the waters.  God is just preparing us for the wonderful time ahead.

Exodus 14:21-31
New International Version (NIV)
21 Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and all that night the Lord drove the sea back with a strong east wind and turned it into dry land. The waters were divided, 22 and the Israelites went through the sea on dry ground, with a wall of water on their right and on their left.

SEEK

VEHICLE

VEHICLE

Yesterday Jay and I went to Wal-Mart to get all the supplies for our tailgate.  We shopped and checkout.  Jay had to gather up the ice so I was headed out to the car, however Jay had parked the car so I had no idea where it was.  I asked, “Where is the car?”  He simply pointed.  Well I know all of you have been to Wal-Mart, so you know how big the parking lot is. (Make note when I am by myself and park my own car I sometimes forget where it is, so how in the world was I going to find a car that I didn’t even park)  I didn’t ask again I just headed out the door.  I stood and looked over the hundreds of cars hoping to spot mine.  After a few looks I found it.

Are you searching?  Are you searching for your vehicle or are you searching for the vehicle that will bring you peace, love and happiness?  Look no further, He is here for you everyday.  No need to search, seek and find.  When we wholeheartedly search for God we will find Him.  Jeremiah 29:13 you will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.  In the 29th chapter of Jeremiah we see that the people of Judah were held captive in Babylon, but God had a plan to give them a new beginning.  He wanted them to be new people.  It is during those times of adversity and hardship that we must remember that God hasn’t forgotten us.  It is through these times we should only seek Him for He is preparing us for something wonderful.  Nothing can break communication with Him.

The Lord is the vehicle to a wonderful life and future.  Seek Him with all of your heart.

LISTEN TO HIS VOICE

ARE YOU LISTENING?

LISTEN

Changes in us will begin, when we begin listening to HIM.

I have wanted to go back to school and get my LPC license for years.  UALR has an online program with 500 clinical hours, so perfect for me.  I filled out all the paperwork and sent it in, however I was late for the fall deadline.  I had to wait until spring to be inrolled.  That worked fine for me.  I have been waiting and waiting for the phone call for months now.  I have called and emailed and gotten no response.  I decided I would give it one last try.  I finally reached them on the phone.  As I questioned about my enrollment this is the response I got, “I am very sorry to inform you, but I have had to lower my number of students due to student professor ratio.”  So what was she telling me, she was simply telling me “NO!”

To be planted in faith is one thing you must do is listen.  Open your heart, open your ears and listen to Him.  His voice is that inner conviction that He has given us.   He speaks on the pages of the Bible.  His voice may not come to us directly, but it will be in situations.  His voice is the little light bulb that lives with in telling us yes and no, right and wrong.  Remember He only spoke to Noah 5 times in over 950 years.

The Lord spoke to me the other day when on the other end of the phone I heard the word no.  I felt as if the Lord was hitting me over the head with a hammer saying, “When are you going to listen?”  Trust me I am listening now.

2 Corinthians 5:7
New International Version (NIV)
For we live by faith, not by sight.

John 8:47 ESV
Whoever is of God hears the words of God. The reason why you do not hear them is that you are not of God.”
My son, if you receive my words and treasure up my commandments with you, making your ear attentive to wisdom and inclining your heart to understanding; yes, if you call out for insight and raise your voice for understanding, if you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.
Mark 4:24 ESV
And he said to them, “Pay attention to what you hear: with the measure you use, it will be measured to you, and still more will be added to you.
